Theater, Music And Lady Bird Lake

Start your Austin, Texas New Year off right and take advantage of the festivals and recurring events that take place here in January. Eat and drink to your heart's content while watching the latest blockbuster on the big screen at Austin's most famous movie theater. I visited Austin in mid-September and went to go view the bats, but unfortunately I only saw a few of them come out from underneath the bridge and by time they did show up, it was too dark to capture them on film.

The museum is located downtown at 1800 North Congress Avenue. Downtown Austin's crown jewel is the Texas State Capitol, erected in 1888 as a Renaissance Revival building housing the state legislature and governor's offices. These events attract musicians, artists, and visitors from all over the world.

However, summer is the time for Blues On The Green, an outdoor free concert series where the entire city comes out for a giant picnic in Zilker Park. Sinner's Brunch with Jo's House Band with special guests each week at Jo's Coffee (1300 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704).

With plenty of after parties each night, this has become a very cool and fun Austin tradition. A short walking distance from Hilton Austin, where visitors experience a number of unique local bars, music and restaurants. From March to November, nearly 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats live under this Austin bridge.

Other parts I love about The White Horse is that they have fun games to play (like pool), an outdoor area with a food truck, and free popcorn all night long. Check out an exhibit at the Blanton Museum of Art, Bullock Texas State History Museum or The Contemporary Austin.

In fact, a walk down the streets of downtown will usually lead to a music performance from a local band making it incredibly easy to find a fun way to enjoy an afternoon. Austin offers amazing attractions ranging from art museums, Texas Visitor Welcome theater, to dining out, indoor space for skydiving and bouldering, live comedy shows, breweries to enjoy the best craft beer, and much more.

Austin's brand new boardwalk, which completes the city's Hike and Bike Trail, provides a scenic route for a stroll along Lady Bird Lake. In Austin's hip South Congress neighborhood you can shop, people-watch at Jo's Coffee , and catch a show at the Continental Club , an Austin institution since 1957.
